A Bit Extreme?

Does anyone else out there need to be reminded that
SUNNY DAYS are just AHEAD?

The prediction at the beginning of the season:
Colder temperatures and SNOW.

I think we've had 2 days of snow that was gone by mid-morning.
I do declare, I think it's rained 4 out of 7 days since October.

That may be stretching it a bit, but I can tell you this girl is ready for SPRING!

This year we did Christmas on Christmas Eve morning.
I think it may be a new tradition.

Because she knows how much we love tea parties,
my sister-in-law gave all the "littles" Santa and Elf mugs.

Look at these little hands.

And those pinkies!

It was morning and they were all
smiles and giggles with anticipation.

We gathered mid-morning for a brunch.

My favorite memories involve food-lots of it- and family.

It's no wonder that food is our go-to.'
Birthdays
Cake and Ice Cream

New Years Day
Black-eyed peas, pork, greens

Valentine's Day
Candy

Independence Day (Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, Labor Day...)
Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, baked beans, Grilled Corn,
BBQ, Ribs...
add to or take away from

Shoot, we even have a food gathering at Halloween.
Chili and Hot Dogs.

And these don't include the many events we attend from
November-December.

We have a big family on my hubby's side.
We had a birthday gathering every month of the year
for more than one birthday.
There wasn't just one cake either.
We had cake(s), pies, cookies, candy,
a whole table of just desserts.

We celebrate life and death and everything in between with food.
(Funny thing:  Every time I have tried to type "food," my fingers
have hit the "g" and I've corrected "good."

Yelp, I'd say, "yummy."

Thus far, one of my favorite chapters in the book is
Day 5:  Fasting and Feasting.

A few days into my last fast, I was putting dishes away when I noticed two of our family Bibles on the kitchen counter.  My husband's big, blue Bible and the slender, brown, leather-bound one that I usually keep in my purse.  As my stomach growled, I found myself inspired.  Immediately I pulled out my prettiest cake stand and placed it on the countertop, stacking the Bibles on it.  Together they looked like a multi-tiered cake on display.  I smiled.

Over the next thirty-five days, I kept the cake stand front and center as a reminder.

When I found myself bored and looking for something to nibble on,
I was reminded to feast on the Word.
Each time I was tempted to mindlessly grab a handful of sugar-coated something, I'd grab my well-worn Bible instead.
Fasting from sugar and feasting on God's Words became the theme of my afternoon and evenings-anytime of the day or night that my stomach growled.

The 40-Day Sugar Fast, author Wendy Speake

Going in to the 4th week of my fast, I'm more hungry than I have been.
The past few days, I've had to resist and resist and resist.
On my way to work this morning, I began to ask myself why?
Why so hard all of a sudden?

Why harder than last week?

The answer came in the stillness.
"What are you feasting on?"

A Facebook group member said,
"You're still detoxing."

Well you got that right!
There's so many layers to my mess.

I knew.
The past couple of days,
I've spent more time on Facebook than I have in THE BOOK.
Scroll and zone out so as not to face the fears and anxieties.

Some may think that I've gone a little overboard
and that this Sugar Fast is a bit extreme or drastic.

Well, we all know I'm a bit extreme anyway.
Smile:)

Bill Bright, an American evangelist said,
"There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which
cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God the Creator,
made known through Jesus Christ."

Wendy says,
"God is eager to rush into all the empty places we long to fill.
God has the power to turn our hollow places into a hallowed place."

She urges us to not only to give Him the food we consume,
but to offer Him everything we run to instead of Him.

Spring into Spring

Anyone else ready to Spring Forward?  Oh my goodness! Just enough nip in the air to feel like an early Spring day. The trees around Georgia are beginning to bud. I've missed my babies so much the past couple of weeks but this afternoon  I feel a little lighter.  It will be Easter weekend before I get to Nashville but I found this sweet little idea to make with the kids. We can go on a scavenger hunt and each Grand can create their own unique design.  I've not done much in my booth for Spring. I had a yard sale and this is how the carport still looks. I may have made $40. Ugh. It was cloudy day so, oh well. I'll price it all and put it in the booth this weekend.  The littles are doing ok. Our youngest GRAND girl, Claire has to wear a patch for a weak eye.  I think she's gonna be fine. She certainly daddy's girl.  She was excited about going to his office.  Our oldest GRAND girl, Cora, made the All-star team in basketball. She's a natural.  She loves to FaceTime!

Growing, Going, Gone

Do you ever consider how fast your children grew up? At the time, it seemed that the sleepless nights would last forever and the terrible twos would stay terrible forever, the pre- teens awkwardness and the teenage defiance would never end. And then they turn 16, you give them the keys and they speed off into the world...gone.   I expected that, somewhat, and I even learned to release my children as they grew. What I didn't expect was for the grandkids to go so fast.  2014 our miracle baby arrives. Our Christmas gift from above.  We enjoy the other two for our last Christmas in GA before moving to Tennessee.  2015 we enjoy our first Christmas after moving to Nashville in May.  2016 and we enjoy our first Christmas in our new house.  2017 the last Christmas the three will be the littles.  2018 new babies. 2019 the year before Covid and the last Christmas in our new home.  2020 the Covid Christmas gathering almost didn't happen. The kids considered not getting together. We were g

God Said Move

In The Summer of last year, I began to feel a restlessness in my spirit. I sensed that things were about to change.  One night in October, I had closed my eyes and was not asleep when I saw in my spirit a sign in the front yard. It was a red, white and blue sign like a Remax Realty sign. I heard the word, "Move." I knew it was the Holy Spirit speaking to me.  David had been unhappy living in the big city. He spent most of his time on the highways and interstates around Middle TN. He traveled anywhere from 375-500 miles a day. He talked of moving back home, and I always resisted. So, I said, "Okay, Lord. I'm not sure what this means. If it's means we will actually move, I'm willing. If it means, you're moving me spiritually, I'm ready.  The very next day, David said, "I need you to pray about something." I knew what he was going to say and I told him about my dream. He had a job offer. The market was a seller's market. Within a few weeks,
