The Ditzy Gypsy Decor

No, I'm not changing the name of my booth or blog. White Lace and Promises is where it all began. The shop have a new owner thus the name change from The Clucking Chicken to The Ditzy Gypsy Decor and More.  The owner is young and creative and has lots of new ideas including a coffee bar.  Savannah Perkins has the talent and ideas and her own handy man, Justin Perkins DBA Perkins Handyman Services, to help her carry them out.  Savannah works from home as a Youth Case Manager for Jobs Unlimited. She also keeps the books for her husband's business while managing the store and being a mom to two teenage boys. Savannah has experience in retail working at Merle Norman owned and managed by her aunt, Teresa Bridges.  I am enjoying sharing ideas with Savannah and look forward to seeing her grow the business. It's exciting to see new life begin to blossom in our small town.  The small town that I grew up in, Tennille, GA has grown with other great little shops like The Ma...

Simplicity

Simplicity... Is anything simple these days?!? I looked up synonyms for simplicity.  I found anything but simple. Really? Explicitly, lucidity, perspicacity, perspicuous Seriously, I need a dictionary! Simplicity isn't simple anymore.  I substituted a few years back. I found I am NOT "Smarter Than a 5th Grader." Seriously, new math is an even newer math! Not Simple.  Sight words in Kindergarten? Shoot! In Kindergarten, my son was making laps around the racetrack to learn the number 8. Now, that's what I call simple.  Maybe, it's just that I'm at a time in my life when I want simple, uncomplicated, peaceful living.  Maybe it's because I'm older or maybe because the world is so complicated.  Simpler days of my childhood included visiting my Granny and Grandaddy. They lived on a dirt road down two other dirt roads. A Bobbed-wire fence lined the property.  A pond for fishing and swimming included a walk through the cow pasture.  WARNING: No Running wi...

Quarantine

Never, ever, ever did I ever even remotely expect to experience a pandemic in my lifetime or be quarantined for anything except a stomach bug.  Coming into 2021, I thought the fog had lifted and we were about to see blue skies and sunshine but in our neck of the woods it seems to have gotten worse.  I'm a stick-your-head-in-the-sand kind of girl. I don't like politics. I don't listen to the news. I don't trust the news! I tend to keep my views to myself. I dislike (I almost typed "hate) all the hate-spewing. I think most things are personal and we still live in the United States. I better confess that there are some things on which I stand and  I refuse to compromise- I choose life always! I declare the name of Jesus and will not back down. I see both sides of the coin with the vaccine so I don't debate it. I chose to get mine due to multiple health issues and I'm overweight on top of it. I have an elderly mother-in-law and my daughter wanted me to.  I miss...

Fall is in the Air

Anybody feel it? The slight chill in the air. The smell of pumpkin, apples and spice makes everything nice. Especially when it's pumpkin spice iced coffee. Yes, it's back...limited time only.  And doesn't time feel so limited?  The older I get, the faster each year goes. We  lost a good friend who had Covid. Another young man in his 40's, a NaNa, a daddy with young children, a couple enjoying retirement days, a husband looking forward to retirement and now a widow left to run the business without the love of her life. So much sadness. I talked to an ER nurse today who says she's never seen anything like it.  "And this call I call to mind and therefore I hope, because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion." Therefore, I will wait for Him. "   Lamentations 3:21-24 It's been a hard week. But this I call to...

White Lace and Promises

We are headed to Nashville this weekend to see the kids and celebrate our littlest Baby Girl, Claire Grace's birthday. She's three! I hope some customers will shop White Lace and Promises for some Labor Day Weekend goodies at 15% off.  I had a great month in August so that means I can do some junking while I'm on the road.  Happy Holiday! Bonnie

God Said Move

In The Summer of last year, I began to feel a restlessness in my spirit. I sensed that things were about to change.  One night in October, I had closed my eyes and was not asleep when I saw in my spirit a sign in the front yard. It was a red, white and blue sign like a Remax Realty sign. I heard the word, "Move." I knew it was the Holy Spirit speaking to me.  David had been unhappy living in the big city. He spent most of his time on the highways and interstates around Middle TN. He traveled anywhere from 375-500 miles a day. He talked of moving back home, and I always resisted. So, I said, "Okay, Lord. I'm not sure what this means. If it's means we will actually move, I'm willing. If it means, you're moving me spiritually, I'm ready.  The very next day, David said, "I need you to pray about something." I knew what he was going to say and I told him about my dream. He had a job offer. The market was a seller's market. Within a few weeks,...

Ready For Fall

I admire you girls who get dirty, sweat and enjoy it! I'm not a foo-foo kind of girl but I don't like dirt under my nails or sweat running through by hair, down my face and puddling in my bra. I like to keep my girls clean and dry.  Anybody ever used the deodorant for those specials parts that are more delicate??? LUME. I'm expecting my order any day now. It can't get here soon enough. To saw I am ready for Fall is an understatement. In getting my Fall items out to put in my booth, I found the set of pumpkins my sister made for me last year.   I'm actually selling most of what I have in storage. After 5 moves in 5 years, I just can't move it again.  I'm keeping it more simple.  My sister gave me the lanterns Christmas before last and I never put them out before now.  This little table is one I found at an estate sale. It is going to the booth this weekend.  Let me know what your favorite season is and why.  Thanks for dropping by, Bonnie
